Thanks to the generous support of alumni donors, the Los Alamos Association of Phi Beta Kappa is pleased to announce $1000 scholarship awards to Matthea Fung, Alyssa Sun, and Helena Welch, 2026 graduates of Los Alamos High School.
Matthea Fung will attend Virginia Tech, majoring in mathematics with a focus on math education.
Alyssa Sun will be attending Yale University and majoring in applied math or statistics.
Helena Welch will attend the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and plans to major in mathematics with plans to explore research and participate in musical ensembles.
Phi Beta Kappa was founded in 1776 to acknowledge and honor the pursuit of academic excellence in the arts and sciences. Chapters are based on college campuses, and there are 50 alumni associations across the country. The Los Alamos Phi Beta Kappa Association has been awarding scholarships to members of each Los Alamos High School graduating class since 1957, supported by generous donations from local Phi Beta Kappa members.
