Sandoval County Sheriff’s Office serves one of the most diverse populations in the state. We span 12 pueblos and tribes with rural areas reaching as far as the continental divide. I am Martin Arellano and I am the best qualified candidate to revitalize this agency to serve our needs.
Retiring from the U.S. Army with 20 years of service and completing my career as Command Sergeant Major, I led one of the largest and most successful recruiting battalions in the country.
The Southern California Recruiting Battalion was not my first successful unit, but my fourth, spanning 10 years of top leadership experience. I am uniquely qualified to continue building the agency of the Sheriff’s office. Managing an organization requires understanding the components while simultaneously engaging the leadership, employees, and the public. Having worked alongside Persian Gulf and Iraq veterans, no other candidate has the background for assisting our veteran population.
My desire to continue to serve led me to Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy Sheriff
where I also retired with an insight to achieve desired results for community safety. County agencies need sufficient resources to reach their borders with efficiency. Fully staffing and expanding the agency with officers who are well-trained, paid fairly, and finding the resources in funding to assist with this renewed growth to service the county. I also believe in making the Deputies, staff and their families a number one priority. To build a professional agency focusing on accountability with smart policing and results to provide the best safety possible is the goal.
My home has always been New Mexico. Born and raised here, I understand the challenges we face currently with more crime, mental health issues, and rising drug use. I want to have the people available to those who need them when they need them. I am not a politician but a person who wants more for his neighbors with the honor and integrity that they deserve. Let’s stand behind strong leadership for Sandoval County!
