Licensed Acupuncturist and Doctor of Oriental Medicine Marie Combs is welcoming residents of the Los Alamos area to her new business, White Crane Acupuncture.

Clients are offered a wide variety of treatment options including:

  • Acupuncture;
  • Traditional Chinese Herbalism;
  • Auricular Acupuncture;
  • Microstim for Non Needle Treatments;
  • Tuning Fork Treatments; and
  • Cupping treatment.

Combs has spent years studying these treatment methods and is a trained nurse. During her time as a nurse, she saw patients from all walks of life, Combs said. Some had small complaints and others had crippling ailments.

“I chose this profession because I wanted to be able to help people with their health problems, but I didn’t want to be the kind of doctor that prescribed drugs or surgery,” Combs said. “If I can help a person and get them back to feeling healthy with Chinese medicine, then the client can avoid some risk and side effects.”

At White Crane Acupuncture, Combs knows that one size does not fit all, she said. For this reason she spends time with each client creating their own treatment plan to achieve the best healing results.

Combs continues to invest in herself and her business in order to make the treatments the most effective they can be. Recently she added an AcuGraph machine.

“The Acugraph works with the same technology as a lie detector, it measures skin conductivity,” Combs said. “I measure the skin conductivity at certain points on the hands and feet and the unit interprets the data and it tells me about the state of the Qi in the meridians. It is a very useful and accurate device that tells me a great deal about what is going on inside the person.”

The AcuGraph clearly shows where the patient needs to be treated and can track results to demonstrate how the patient is improving, Combs said.

White Crane Acupuncture also offers a variety of healing products. Combs makes her own body butters in a refreshing collection of flower scents and offers CBD creams.

Combs looks forward to speaking about her business, White Crane Acupuncture, at the Ignite Talks hosted by LA Makers Space at 5 p.m., June 16. She will share a quick five minute talk with guests. She will be hosting her own event 4-7 p.m., July 20 at UNM-Los Alamos called Full Body Health and Fitness. Combs will be appearing with a Reiki master and fitness coach. Check out the Facebook page, Full Body Health and Fitness, for event details.
