NPS News:
DENVER — The National Park Service (NPS) is initiating a stakeholder engagement process as part of the interpretive planning process for Manhattan Project National Historical Park (Manhattan Project NHP).
The NPS is seeking broad public participation in a series of virtual stakeholder engagement events beginning April.
Members of the communities and nearby cities in each of the three Manhattan Project NHP locations will be engaged in this process, together with other stakeholders who have ties to or interest in the park and its development.
The engagement activities are designed to encourage a sharing of experiences, interests, and connections related to the diverse and complex story of the Manhattan Project.
Engagement sessions will be organized both by theme and by region, with the latter focused on the regions surrounding the three Manhattan Project NHP park locations of Los Alamos, Hanford, Wash. and Oak Ridge, Tenn.
Due to ongoing public health restrictions associated with COVID-19, all events will be held virtually. Scheduling details will be posted on the Manhattan Project NHP website late March.
Individuals interested in participating can find additional information here.
The intention of the NPS is to reach as broad and diverse a set of public stakeholders as possible, in order to obtain input on a wide array of experiences and perspectives that will inform the development of the interpretive plan and future programming, exhibits, and media for the park.
