Los Alamos MainStreet News:

The annual Los Alamos MainStreet Holiday Lights Parade, this year with a “Whoville on the Hill” theme, will glide down Central Avenue at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7.

A beer garden will be open in front of Blue Window Bistro, and a holiday drinks area managed by UnQuarked in the Bennett’s Jewelry parking lot, will be selling Kakawa hot chocolate, mulled wines, chai teas and other wine and beer offerings. A few other food and treat vendors also will be present during the festivities.

There will be an approximately 10-minute pause during the beginning of the parade while Blue Bucks Raffle sponsor, Enterprise Bank & Trust, draws the winning recipients from the shop local promotion led by the Chamber of Commerce and MainStreet that started Nov. 29 and runs through this Friday, Dec. 6.

Prizes include bags filled with gift cards to local businesses, to cash prizes ranging from $250 to a grand prize of $1,000 for both the winning shopper and the business from which they made their purchase. Awardees will be announced near the judges’ station by Bennett’s Jewelry.

The HMS Implacable, a chapter of the Royal Manticoran Navy, also is encouraging parade participants to come out with a new, unwrapped toy to contribute to this year’s U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program. HMS Implacable reported earlier this week that it appears The Grinch made an early appearance and took the toys from their sleigh. When you see their uniformed representatives marching in the parade with their empty sleigh, please help fill it with a toy! CB FOX has pitched in to help, offering 10 percent off on donated toys; they also will have toys for sale in front of their store before and during the Holiday Lights Parade.

The official Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place after the parade, starting at approximately 7 p.m. around Ashley Pond.

Los Alamos also celebrates Winter with many other events scheduled around town during the 2019 Los Alamos WinterFest. For more information and a full downloadable schedule of WinterFest activities, visit www.LosAlamosMainStreet.com/Events/WinterFest.

Los Alamos MainStreet would like to extend a sincere thanks to the 2019 WinterFest sponsors, Los Alamos County, Enterprise Bank & Trust and Del Norte Credit Union.
