Bill Hargraves

LWV News:

This month’s Lunch with a Leader sponsored by the League of Women Voters for the community will feature Bill Hargraves talking about the Polaris Charter School that has been proposed for Los Alamos. The talk is at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, at Mesa Public Library.

Hargraves serves on the Los Alamos School Board but worked in the role of a private citizen to look at options for children who did not fit in well with traditional teaching. His diverse background dealing with creative thinking and thinking outside the box lead him to believe that as effective as LAPS is, there might be some other avenues to success for our children.

Hargraves earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Institute Of Technology. He worked at the Central Intelligence Agency: Support of the Strategic Arms Limitation Talks (SALT), Georgia Institute of Technology: atmospheric modeling for design of Space Shuttle program and evaluation of wind energy locations across the country, Kirtland Air Force Base: computer emulation of war game strategies.

At the New Mexico Environment Department Air Quality Bureau, he worked on permitting and enforcement of New Mexico Air Quality regulations and at Los Alamos National Laboratory. he was in the IT Project Management Office; Health & Safety Division until he retired. He has lived on the hill and raised his two daughters who both graduated from LAPS.

If you would like to order a lunch prepared by the Co+op for $10, please call Karyl Ann Armbruster at 231.8286 or email her at kaskacayman@gmail.com to get a list of the various choices available. Lunch orders need to be received by June 16. Of course, it is not mandatory to order lunch to attend.
