U.S. SENATE News:
SANTA FE — Sen. Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) released the following statement on the results of the 2022 New Mexico General Election in which Democrats won up and down the ballot:
“This election presented a clear contrast between Democratic candidates and their Republican opponents. New Mexicans voted for progress and results over division and conspiracies.
“New Mexicans once again rejected Trump-backed Mark Ronchetti and his right-wing allies and placed their continued trust in Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham who crisscrossed the state to highlight historic investments in our communities. With majorities in the state House and state Senate, I know that Gov. Lujan Grisham will continue working tirelessly for New Mexicans.
“As their colleague in Congress, I am glad that Teresa Leger Fernández and Melanie Stansbury will return to the U.S. House where they will continue making their mark. New Mexicans also elected Gabe Vasquez to Congress, who will be a strong fighter for our values.
“Under the leadership of New Mexico Democrats, our state has been at the forefront of protecting a woman’s right to choose, investing in health care and education, and putting New Mexicans back to work. These are priorities that Democrats will continue to build upon in the years ahead.”
