On Tuesday, Nov. 19 through Thursday, Nov. 21, Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) will conduct mission-critical experiments during the day that may result in loud noises being heard on and off Lab property.

Please be advised that these noises are expected and are not a threat to public safety. (Dates are subject to change; the public will be notified if that happens.)

The Laboratory conducts a wide range of dynamic experiments using high explosives, carrying out several hundred experiments annually. Some experiments are large enough to be heard off-site.

Prior to each experiment, the Lab carefully evaluates atmospheric conditions to minimize off-site noise impacts. All experiments follow strict regulations, prioritizing safety, security and environmental stewardship.
