The weather is warming up and bikes are begging for fun in the sun, so clearly it’s time to join the Los Alamos Mountain Bike Team (LAMBT)!

LAMBT includes riders in grades 6-12 (during the 2021-2022 school year) from White Rock and Los Alamos.

The team trains and competes in cross-country style mountain biking, based on National Interscholastic Cycling League standards. All coaches and ride leaders receive background checks and are trained per NICA standards in concussion awareness, risk management and first-aid.

New Mexico residents participate in the Arizona league, in the NM team format, because New Mexico does not have its own league yet.

The 2021 season starts July 1 and ends Nov. 1 with preseason events starting May 6.

LAMBT welcomes parents and community members as volunteers; in fact, they can’t do this without adult volunteers to assist with coaching and leading or assisting with practice rides. The team philosophy is fun first, and its central goal is for students to develop a strong body, mind and character through mountain biking.

There are no tryouts. Everyone rides no matter his/her ability and skill level, and LAMBT will do its best to place riders in ride groups that will challenge them to become a better MTBer at the level they want to be.

Racing is optional and not required to join the team. LAMBT members ride to have fun and build friendships, the team motto is “ride safe, be kind, work hard, have fun!”

LAMBT has a t-shirt fundraiser underway. Please support the team and order a shirt with the LAMBT logo; youth, men’s and women’s shirts and sweatshirts are available: Click here to check it out, share on social media, and place an order. The fundraiser ends May 18.
