Los Alamos WinterFest ‘Home For The Holidays’ Dec. 4-6

Los Alamos MainStreet News:

Los Alamos WinterFest 2020, with the theme “Home For the Holidays,” will be different this year and run Friday, Dec. 4 to Sunday Dec. 6.

Due to COVID-19 and the current Public Health Orders, the popular Holiday Lights Parade will be replaced with a Holiday Lights Display 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5. This is a drive-through event where cars can safely view some festive floats and decorated cars parked in the Central Park Square North Parking lot, for a “reverse parade” concept.

No pedestrians will be allowed. Float and decorated auto registration is available through the Los Alamos WinterFest website at http://www.LosAlamosMainStreet.com/winterfest or directly here.

Other safe WinterFest activities include a Winter Wonderland Virtual Paint Party Friday and Saturday by Los Alamos Canvas Events, a Community Arts and Craft Crawl Saturday, and other virtual activities presented by Pajarito Environmental Education Center on the Night Sky in December and “Making Your Holiday Season More Sustainable.”

The Los Alamos High School Olions also will have a Virtual Winter Showcase on two days during WinterFest weekend.

The community also may enter the Ugly Sweater Mask Decorating Contest, hosted by the Los Alamos Creative District, for a chance to win gift cards to Village Arts, or participate in a Holiday Scavenger Hunt courtesy of Los Alamos County Community Services Department.

Other community organizations are offering holiday activities such as Snowflake Paper Circuit kits from the Los Alamos STEAM Lab, a Gingerbread-Making Video on Family Strengths Network’s (FSN) YouTube Channel, as well as Winter Crystal Kits also provided by FSN.

Families also may plan a visit to the Solar-Light Decorated Treehouse at Los Alamos Nature Center during WinterFest weekend.

Details for all these activities, and more, can be found on the Los Alamos WinterFest website, www.LosAlamosMainStreet.com/winterfest.

Los Alamos MainStreet partners with the Los Alamos Creative District and other community organizations to generate a schedule of activities for Los Alamos WinterFest.

Thank you to Los Alamos County and Enterprise Bank & Trust for their sponsorship!
