Los Alamos Students Perform Well in Sonata Contest

The Santa Fe Music Teachers Association held their annual statewide Sonata Contest Saturday, Feb. 2.

Los Alamos residents did very well in the competition,

Prize winners from Los Alamos were as follows:

Level II:  Lenny Svyatskiy, First Place Winner, with Keith Snell’s “City Sonatina”

Level III:  Jason Pieck, Third Place Winner, with Spindler’s “Sonatina, Op. 157, No. 1”

Level V:  Nicholas Mozyrsky, First Place Winner, with  Keith Snell’s “Denver Sonatina”

Level VI: Sonyia Williams, First Place Winner, and Sruthi Garimella, Second Place Winner, both performing Clementi’s “Sonatina, Op. 36, No. 6” .

Level VII:  Jennifer Wang, First Place Winner, with Beethoven’s “Sonata, Op. 49, No. 2”

Sonjia Williams is the student of Ronald Grinage. The other winners are the students of Madeline Williamson.
