Martinez invited all New Mexico elementary school children to participate in the “New Mexico True” Summer Reading Challenge in April. The program was designed to encourage students to read during the summer and help prevent students from losing reading proficiency.
All readers, who submitted a completed reading log with information regarding the six books they read, received a “New Mexico True” bookmark and a certificate recognizing their accomplishment. Readers who submitted their completed reading log with information regarding the 12 books they read, as well as a short essay explaining “Why I Love New Mexico,” received a “New Mexico True” bookmark, a certificate recognizing their accomplishment and had their name entered in the random drawing to receive a grand prize.
Los Alamos Public Schools is proud to announce that these three students are being recognized for their reading efforts.
