Today’s start of school began at 5:45 a.m. with safety inspections for every school bus. Los Alamos Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Kurt Steinhaus helped conduct the inspections and was pleased that every bus was in “tip top shape.”
Beginning Monday Aug. 17, elementary students will be on a regular full day schedule. A webpage link to lunch menus for the elementary schools will be posted on the LAPS webpage Friday afternoon, Aug. 14. Favorite quote of the day from a Mountain Elementary School 6th grader “Lockers are sooooo cool!”
Mid and high school students began the year with a full day of school. Based upon classrooms visits, it was clear that students and teachers were ready to get to work. Some Advanced Placement classes at the high school were already giving practice quizzes about material assigned over the summer.
At the middle school, some of the 7th grade students needed help with locker combinations. All in all, the school year is off to a good start.
