Los Alamos School of Gymnastics Trio Wins Gold

Kayli Lincoln, Aaliyah Walker and Suyana Ferreria of Los Alamos School of Gymnastics placed first in the all-around competition in their divisions Oct. 26 at a meet in Santa Fe. The gymnasts brought home 13 gold medals for their team.

Twenty-five Los Alamos School of Gymnastics gymnasts attended the meet in Santa Fe. Twelve gymnasts competed in the USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic (JO) Program, 10 in the USA Gymnastics Xcel Program and three, Aaliyah Walker, Anna Clark, and Suyana Ferreria, competed in both.

The Xcel Program is an alternative to the JO Program, allowing gymnasts the opportunity to perform creative routines, choreographed to fit each individual.

Lincoln won the JO Level 3 Child A Division, earning gold on vault (9.25), floor (9.0), and all-around (35.05), and bronze on bars (8.4). 

Walker won the Xcel Silver Junior Division, taking gold on beam (9.6), floor (9.0), and all-around (35.6), and bronze on bars (8.7), and vault (8.3).

For her second meet in a row, Ferreria won both the JO and Xcel competitions. In the JO Level 4 Senior Division, she earned gold on bars (9.25), floor (9.0), and all-around (34.9), and silver on beam (8.7). In the Xcel Gold Senior Division, Ferreria took gold on vault (9.35), bars (8.8), floor (8.8), and all-around (35.65), and bronze on beam (8.7).

Gymnasts competing in the Xcel Program brought home 11 gold medals, 9 silver, and 12 bronze for Los Alamos School of Gymnastics.

Gymnasts competing in the JO Program earned 11 gold medals, 6 silver, and 10 bronze.

Xcel Program Highlights:

Bronze Division

Andrea Chapman earned silver on bars (8.8). Charolette Gonzales earned bronze on beam (9.1), bars (8.7), and floor (8.6). Teammate Emilee Maestas earned gold on bars (9.0) and vault (8.9).

Silver Junior Division

Aaliyah Walker competed in this division (see above for results).

Silver Senior Division

In her first gymnastics meet, Faith Koh took gold on bars (8.7) and beam (8.7), silver on floor (8.4), and bronze on vault (7.2) and all-around (33.0). Teammate Hannah Mullen earned silver on bars (8.6) and beam (8.6).

Gold Junior Division

Brianna Fryer took gold on beam (9.1), tied for silver on bars (8.9), and placed third in the all-around (34.9). Teammate Addison Richie tied for silver on bars (8.9). Allison Warner brought home a bronze on vault (8.3).

Gold Senior Division

Suyana Ferreira competed in this division (see above for results).

Platinum Junior Division

Anna Clark brought home silver on beam (8.95), floor (8.9), and all-around (34.85), and bronze on vault (9.1).

Platinum Senior Division

Elyse Phillips earned bronze on bars (8.4) and beam (8.9).

Junior Olympic Program Highlights

Level 3 Child A Division

Danielle Bellamy tied for bronze on bars with an 8.4. Kayli Lincoln competed in this division.

Level 3 Child B Division

Kaeley Bustos earned gold on bars (8.7), silver on beam (8.75), and bronze on floor (8.65) and all-around (34.7). Milan Vigil earned silver on vault (9.2).

Level 3 Junior Division

Liz Chapman took gold on vault (9.05).

Level 4 Child Division

Nyla Lee earned gold on vault (8.25) and bronze on bars (7.95). Paetyn Miller earned gold on bars (8.3). Aaliyah Walker earned silver on beam (8.3).

Level 4 Senior Division

Suyana Ferreria competed in this division (see above for results).

Level 5 Junior Division

Anna Clark earned silver on vault (9.125), floor (8.925), and all-around (34.45), and bronze on bars (8.3) and beam (8.1). Katie Wingo took bronze on vault (8.4) and floor (8.6).

Level 5 Senior Division

Ashley Bustos earned gold on vault (9.1) and bronze on bars (8.6) and beam (8.65).
