Los Alamos School of Gymnastics (LASG) hosted 98 gymnasts from five teams the weekend of Feb. 2-3 from New Mexico and Colorado in its 43rd annual Snowflake Invitational.
In the junior age division, Bronze gymnast Harmony Cutter was LASG’s high scorer of the day with 36.65. She took the Silver medal in the all around. Cutter took gold medals on vault with 9.40 and beam with a 9.30. Her 9.10 on bars was good enough for the bronze medal. Lucy Meierbachtol took the bronze medal in the all around in this division with 36.55. Meierbachtol also took home a gold medal for a 9.25 on floor and bronze medals on vault (9.30) and beam (9.10).
Sierra Collord was fifth in this division with 35.20. Kaley Daley was sixth with 34.70 and won a bronze medal on floor with 8.90.
Bronze gymnast, Ava Zadina, took the gold medal in the All Around competition of the youngest age group with 36.60. Zadina also took the gold medals in three events: bars (9.50), floor (9.20), and beam (9.00). Her 8.90 on vault won her a bronze medal on that event. Emery Apperson took the silver medal in the all-around in this age group with 35.40. Apperson took individual event medals on beam (a silver medal with 8.80), and bars (a bronze medal with 9.00). Maddie Vallejo was fifth all around in this age division with 34.95. Vallejo took the gold medal on vault with a 9.30.
In the Bronze senior division, Lucy Lindsay and Tehya Thornton tied for fourth all around with 35.50. Lindsay took a bronze medal on vault with 9.30 and Thornton took a silver medal on floor with a 9.00. Lainey Hopwood was seventh all around with 34.85. Hopwood brought home the gold medal for beam with her score of 9.00. Aubrey Tatro finished eighth in this group with a 34.75. Addy Archuleta was ninth with 34.40. Archuleta tied for first on beam with team mate Hopwood at 9.00, receiving the silver medal because of the slightly lower all around (by the tie breaking system). Archuleta also won a bronze medal on bars with a 9.20.
In the Silver division of competition, Christina Samantzidou took the gold medal in the all around, winning the junior age division with 35.90. Samantzidou also took gold medals on floor (9.20) and bars (8.69). In the other two events vault (9.30) and beam (8.80), she took silver medals. Amelie Vallejo won the Silver medal all around in this division with 34.90. Vallejo won the vault competition, taking the gold medal with 9.35. She also took silver medals on floor (9.15) and bars (8.40). Nina Gyrya was fourth in this group with 33.20 and took bronze medals on vault (9.00) and beam (8.20). Serenity Tao finished sixth in this group with a 32.05 all-around. She tied with team mate Gyrya with a 9.00 on vault and won the bronze medal on floor with 8.75. In the Silver older division, Abbie Johnson was sixth with 33.95 and Ava Vigil was seventh with 33.60.
In the Gold division competition, youngest age group, Caroline Eriksen finished eighth with 32.05. She won the bronze medal on beam with 8.70. In the senior division, Teagan Brown was sixth with 32.45 and won a bronze medal on vault with 8.60. Leeza Trudolyubov was seventh.
LASG Atomic Tumblers finish their season at Albuquerque Gymnastics Feb. 16.
After that, those who have met LASG’s strict qualifying standards will continue into the post season with the State Championships in March at Sandia Prep, followed by Region 3 (New Mexico, Colorado, Texas, Kansas, Wyoming, Arkansas and Oklahoma) Gold Championships In Denver in April and Region 3 Platinum- Sapphire Championships in May.
