SPORTS News:

Los Alamos Junior Roller Derby is kicking off its 2025 non-competitive season, inviting both new and returning skaters aged 9-18 to join the Los Alamos Cherry Bombs for a season focused on skill-building and fun.

The season officially begins Wednesday, Aug. 13, with the first practice scheduled for 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Los Alamos Ice Rink.

This season offers a unique opportunity for new skaters to learn roller skating fundamentals in a supportive, no-contact environment. Returning skaters will continue to refine their skills and develop game strategies. No prior experience is necessary; coaches will provide all essential training.

The non-competitive season runs through mid-October, after which practices will move indoors to Barranca Gymnasium as cooler weather approaches.

Practice Schedule:

  • Twice weekly, beginning Aug. 13;
  • Wednesdays: 5:30-7:30 p.m.; and
  • Sundays: 2:30-4:30 p.m.

Skaters are encouraged to attend both sessions each week for optimal skill development, though attending just one practice is also an option.

Participation Details:

  • To participate, families must complete the contact form for each skater as soon as possible, including veteran skaters;
