LAPD News:
Los Alamos County will be placing temporary jersey barriers starting at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, May 3 at Ashley Pond Park to enhance public safety during upcoming events.
Motorists should anticipate lane closures along Trinity Drive during barrier placement.
This work is scheduled to be completed by Saturday afternoon.
These barriers will be positioned along the south side of Ashley Pond Park, specifically along the west side of Trinity Drive, along the sidewalk in the grass, and will remain in place throughout the Summer Concert Series schedule.
This temporary safety measure aims to protect concert attendees and visitors to Ashley Pond Park. Across the country, large gatherings have occasionally been targeted by reckless or impaired drivers, as well as individuals experiencing medical episodes or distraction behind the wheel. Such incidents have resulted in serious injuries and even fatalities.
The County’s goal is to proactively try to prevent such incidents and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all event attendees.
“We want everyone to enjoy the concerts and festivities with peace of mind, knowing that we have taken steps to prioritize their safety,” Deputy Chief James Rodriguez said.
