Los Alamos Police conducted a sobriety checkpoint, saturation patrol, and registration, insurance and driver’s license checkpoint Friday night on Diamond Drive. LAPD joins state police efforts across New Mexico working to bring awareness to the dangers of drinking and driving. State police say these checkpoints are helping to change society’s attitude about driving while under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs, adding that hundreds of lives could be saved each year if every driver had the courage to make the right decision not to drive impaired.
