LAPD News:

The Los Alamos Police Department conducted its bi-annual DEA prescription drug take back initiative Saturday, April 27.

LAPD conducted two location sites for the first time this year, one at Los Alamos Medical Center and the second at the public library in White Rock.

The total weight of collected drugs was 332 pounds.

“This is the most we have collected thus far and this continues to be a successful program with community support.” Det. Sgt. Oliver Morris said. “I was approached by many seniors in White Rock that stated they were grateful for the second location site because it can sometimes be difficult for them to make arrangements to drive up to Los Alamos.”

The ability to staff the second post came from utilizing the Police Department’s new Community Impact Unit comprised of Sgt. Jeremy Duran, Cpl. Oliver McCartney and Ofc. Robert Girmendonk. The Investigations division, comprised of Sgt. Oliver Morris, Det. Paige Early and Det. Daniel Roberts staffed the Los Alamos post.
