The Los Alamos Police Department (LAPD) Criminal Investigations Section has been investigating claims of a residence in the Denver Steel area of Los Alamos, from which someone was providing marijuana to several minors.
The Investigations Section executed a search warrant and arrest warrant early this morning, Oct. 6. LAPD officers subsequently arrested 74-year-old Roy Moore of Los Alamos and charged him with two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor(s) – both 4th degree felonies.
Moore also was arrested back in 2015 by Los Alamos Police related to distribution of a controlled substance and other drug charges.
“With the changes to marijuana legislation and decriminalization of certain marijuana laws it is important that our community understands that some offenses still hold criminal and civil penalties. Providing an atmosphere of safety and security for our local youth especially in areas near our public schools is paramount for our agency and we will prosecute those that seek to encourage drug use amongst minors as applicable by law,” Deputy Chief Oliver Morris said.
