COMMUNITY News:

The Los Alamos Opera Guild will hold its 3rd Annual Props and Costumes Event with speakers from the Santa Fe Opera, 2 p.m. Jan. 25 in Fuller Lodge. Director of the Costume Department Blair Gullege and Director of the Props Department Director Elaine Garcia will discuss the challenges of creating memorable props and costumes for the Santa Fe Opera’s 2025 season.

They will bring samples to share and stories to tell. The Santa Fe Opera’s outdoor venue presents lots of problems that need to be solved, and the solutions are fascinating. For example, have you ever wondered how the props department gets the “snow” to stay on the stage for winter scenes despite Santa Fe’s summer winds? And how singers stay cool despite heavy costumes and summer weather? You will be able to ask these questions and more during this delightful presentation.

Any questions can be directed to Terry Beery (terry.beery@gmail.com).

This program is free for all, but donations will be accepted.
