Los Alamos Navy JROTC Precision Rifle Team Takes First Place At Regional Championship In Utah

The Los Alamos HIgh School Navy JROTC Precision Rifle Team finished in first place for Navy teams this weekend in Provo, Utah. 
 
The team increased its score by 21 points on day two of the competition to finish in first for the Navy teams competing at the Utah event.
 
Other Navy teams also competed in Anniston, Ala., and others will compete in Ohio this coming weekend. The Los Alamos team is ranked first nationally for the Navy teams that have completed the competition and posted a solid score, which should result in a second national championship after all is over.
 
Making the final eight for the individual competition was Samantha Miller who qualified and finished first, JoAnna O’Neill who qualified and finished third and Steffie Neilsen who was in sixth place. Holly Hayes the forth team member just missed the final eight, but finished ninth overall.
 
The team will travel to Anniston, Ala., in March to compete in the all service competition.
