The Pajarito Environmental Education Center’s Summer Family Evenings program presents a plant-inspired experience with the Santa Fe Botanical Gardens at 6:30 p.m., .Wednesday, July 5 at the Los Alamos Nature Center.
Activities inclue planting a seedling to take home, a family-friendly scavenger hunt and discovering how to make one’s garden thrive in northern New Mexico.
A representative from the Santa Fe Botanical Gardens will share her knowledge and bring fun activities for all ages. There will be a planting station where attendees can plant a seedling, learn how to care for it, and bring it home to enjoy. The plant-themed scavenger hunt takes participants around the nature center to discover plants that do well in this climate.
Over the course of the summer, a variety of animals and organizations will visit the nature center Wednesday evenings. There is something for everyone. Here is a list of this year’s remaining Summer Family Evenings schedule:
- July 12 – Burro packers from Paraje Atajo Guest House;
- July 19 – Animals from the New Mexico Wildlife Center; and
- July 26 – Solar Eclipse Night.
Summer Family Evenings at the Los Alamos Nature Center are 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evenings throughout June and July. They are free to PEEC member families, or $5 per non-member family.
