LAMC News:
Los Alamos Medical Center (LAMC) will host its Teddy Bear Clinic Tuesday, May 2. Approximately 200 kindergarteners, their teachers and parent chaperones will tour LAMC in order to learn about the hospital and the various departments, all while gaining a comfort level within a healthcare setting.
With the help of Classic Air Medical helicopter and crew, and the Los Alamos County Police and Fire Departments, the students will also have the opportunity to tour a medi-evac helicopter, police car, fire truck and an ambulance, all of which are key factors for quality healthcare in Los Alamos.
“The Teddy Bear Clinic has been a favorite event for the local kindergarteners, their parents and teachers, and our staff here at LAMC. Staff get to enjoy interacting with the students and helping them become comfortable in a hospital setting,” said Jacqui Carroll, Human Resources Director and Event Coordinator. “Parents have let us know how much their children enjoyed attending the clinic, and how they have come home and shared all that they experienced. The amazing teachers even build lesson plans around this event to make the most of it for the students. It is a win-win for all!”
LAMC CEO Tracie Stratton said, “After a hiatus of not orchestrating the Teddy Bear Clinic due to COVID, we are extremely excited to bring this program back for the kindergarteners of Los Alamos and White Rock. Hospital staff are looking forward to helping kindergarteners learn more about healthcare and allow them to understand going to a hospital does not have to be scary. We enjoy the opportunity to provide community outreach activities and look forward to this being a long-standing activity for years to come.”
