LAMC News:

Approximately 230 enthusiastic kindergarteners from Los Alamos Public Schools had the unique opportunity to step into the world of healthcare during the annual Teddy Bear Clinic hosted on Thursday, May 22, by Los Alamos Medical Center (LAMC).

The event welcomed young students into the hospital for a day filled with engaging, hands-on learning activities designed to introduce them to medical environments in a friendly and approachable way. Children went through and rotated through different stations where they learned about basic medical procedures, healthcare tools, and the importance of health and safety.

In addition to learning about healthcare, students also had the chance to interact with members of the Los Alamos County Fire Department and Los Alamos County Police Department. These first responders gave students an up-close look at emergency vehicles and equipment, sparking excitement and curiosity about their vital roles in the community.

Each child left the event with a special LAMC bag, including a miniature teddy bear to remind them of the experience. The Teddy Bear Clinic not only helps ease fears around hospital visits but also aims to inspire the next generation to consider careers in healthcare.

The success of the Teddy Bear Clinic was made possible thanks to the incredible efforts of hospital staff, community volunteers, local educators, and first responder partners, including Classic Air Medical, Los Alamos County Fire Department and Los Alamos County Police.
