Los Alamos Medical Center CEO Feliciano Jiron Appointed To American Hospital Association Governing Council

LAMC CEO Feliciano Jiron

LAMC News:

Los Alamos Medical Center is pleased to announce that CEO Feliciano Jiron has been appointed to represent rural hospitals on the American Hospital Association Section for Small or Rural Hospitals Governing Council.

This is a national advisory committee that represents AHA constituents and counsels AHA on advocacy, policy and strategic planning issues.

The Governing Council includes 18 elected and four appointed members who are chief executives and physician leaders of some of the country’s prominent small or rural hospitals. It also has ex-officio members representing trustees and state small or rural hospital associations. Jirons’ term is July 2015 to December 2017.

“The appointment provides Los Alamos Medical Center the opportunity to help with policy making and strategic planning,” Jiron said. “I am honored to be selected to represent LAMC and the state of New Mexico’s rural community hospitals.”

Together with AHA’s Washington staff and regional executives, the Section and its Governing Council advocate on behalf of member hospitals. AHA’s legislative staff has direct contact with members of Congress including staff on key committees with jurisdiction over rural healthcare issues. In addition, the AHA Governing Council works closely with federal agencies such as the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and Health Resources and Services Administration.

In addition, members of the Governing Council work on behalf of the nation’s small or rural hospitals and serve as key contacts and resources for colleagues in their regions. Governing Council members work with AHA, regional and state association staff to build section visibility and assist in member recruitment and retention.
