MAINSTREET News:
Los Alamos MainStreet announced that a call for exhibitors is open for the 2013 Next Big Idea Festival. The event is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 14.
Organizations, groups and individuals with interactive exhibits or presentations that are related to science, technology, engineering and math are encouraged to participate in this annual event. The deadline for exhibitor entries is Sept. 4.
The Next Big Idea Festival – A Festival of Discovery, Invention and Innovation is the signature event of Los Alamos and showcases its creative heritage. This family-friendly, public event is designed to educate and entertain people of all ages by celebrating big ideas. The event takes place 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Fuller Lodge Lawn, Origami parking lot and ‘The Park’ at Central Park Square.
The event is advertised statewide via television, radio and print. The event usually draws a couple thousand interested attendees – each year drawing larger crowds. Local and state dignitaries have been invited to attend.
Last year, more than 65 science, technology, and engineering organizations from across New Mexico presented the fun and excitement of science through hands-on, interactive exhibits, science-themed performances and demonstrations, and family-oriented entertainment.
