LALO News:The Los Alamos Light Opera (LALO) announces auditions for its March show, Sister Act! Based on the 1992 movie starring Whoopi Goldberg, this show follows aspiring singer Deloris Van Cartier as she witnesses a crime and goes into hiding in a convent. Hilarity (and music) ensue!
Auditions are 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15 and Sunday, Nov. 16 in Graves Hall of the United Church in Los Alamos at 2525 Canyon Road. Signs in the building will direct people where to go. Anyone unable to make these auditions may contact director/choreographer Wendy Caldwell Lanchier at wendykcaldwell@gmail.com, to schedule an alternate time. Those auditioning should prepare 32 bars of a song of their choice that demonstrates their vocal ability. People may bring sheet music or a karaoke track. During auditions, sides from the show will be read.
Callbacks are 6:30-9 p.m. Nov. 17 in the lounge of the United Church. Again, signs will point people in the right direction. Note that the Light Opera may not do callbacks for every role, so not getting a callback does not mean one hasn’t been cast.
A synopsis of the show and list of characters, including vocal ranges, can be found here: https://www.mtishows. com/print/node/485.The Light Opera will also add this information to its website in the coming days. Visit losalamoslightopera.org for updates and access to the audition form (which may be completed before or at auditions).
The Light Opera would like to have the cast set and distribute librettos before the holidays, but will not begin rehearsals until after the holidays. The Light Opera knows there are multiple performances this spring, and it encourages everyone to audition and will do its best to accommodate conflicting schedules.
