The Hilltopper Track & Field teams posted a number of new State Championship qualifying marks at Bernalillo High School on Thursday afternoon and evening.
State qualifying marks were achieved by Matt Brousseau in the discus (136′, 2nd place) and Jaydon Dudley in the shot put (48′ 10″, 2nd). Dudley’s shot put throw placed him in the Toppers top 10 all-time list at #10. The Boys team posted season best marks in the 4×200 m relay (Patrick Montoya, Carlo Baca, Jordan Herrera, and Akim Leija-Sanchez, 1:33.73) and 1600 medley relay (Dario Reyes, Zach Mauro, Gus Ovaska, and Sean Lucero, 4:07.03). Individual event winners included Aiden Manzanares in the pole vault (12′ 6″) and Esteban Wright in the 400 m (51.27 seconds).
Girls achieving state qualifying marks included Evangelina Gutierrez in the 100 m (12.95), Colette Bibeault in the 400 m (60.11), Ensley Jorgenson in the 800 m (2:25.92), Colette Bibeault, Dani Trellue, and Raina Passalacqua in the 100 m hurdles (15.13, 16.20, and 16.92, respectively), Iris Purtzer, Raina Passalacqua, and Colette Bibeault in the high jump (5′, 4′ 10″, and 4′ 10″, respectively), Allie Holland and Jenna Montoya in the long jump (17′ 5″ and 16′ 9″, respectively), Colette Bibeault and Dani Trellue in the pole vault (11′ 9″ and 10′, respectively), and Sarah Martis in the discus (105′ 5″).
In addition, state qualifying marks were achieved by the 4×100 m relay (Raina Passalacqua, Allie Holland, Jenna Montoya, and Evangelina Gutierrez, 49.35), 4×200 m relay (Chloe Coffey, Allie Holland, Jenna Montoya, and Evangelina Gutierrez, 1:45.19), and 1600 medley relay (Evangelina Gutierrez, Jayden Burns, Chloe Coffey, and Emmeline Keller-Moore, 4:38.77).
Individual event winners for the Girls included Ensley Jorgenson in the 800 m, Colette Bibeault in the 100 m hurdles and pole vault, Allie Holland in the long jump, Sarah Martis in the discus, and the 4×100 m, 4×200 m, and 1600 medley relay teams.
Next up, the JV teams travel to Cleveland High School on Wednesday, April 2, and the Varsity teams compete at the APS Meet on Friday and Saturday, April 4-5.
