Los Alamos High School Track & Field Continues Winning Ways At Larry Baca Memorial Invitational At Sullivan Field

The LAHS Track & Field teams continued their winning ways at the Larry Baca Memorial Invitational (the LAHS Home Meet) at Sullivan Field on Thursday afternoon, April 27.

The Hilltopper Girls easily won the meet, with 222 points to runner-up Belen’s 62 points.  A highlight of the meet was the ‘Topper 4×200 relay team breaking the LAHS School Record for the 3rd time this season, this time with a team of Nyla Lee, Jaiya Daniels, Angelina Passalaqua, and Anna Wetteland.  Their record time was 1:39.99.

Individual event winners for the Hilltopper Girls included Nyla Lee in the 100 (12.09, #4 LAHS all-time), Jaiya Daniels in the 200 and Triple Jump (24.93 and 37′ 6-1/4″, Jaiya set the LAHS School Records in both events earlier this season at 24.67 and 38′ 3″, respectively), Meredith Brown in the 400 (61.55), Rebecca Beaux in the 800 (2:31.2), Emma Montoya in the 1600 (5:31.2), Amelia Hill in the 3200 (13:18), Angelina Passalaqua in the 100 m hurdles (15.53, the previous week she ran an #2 LAHS all-time of 15.34) and Long Jump (17′ 2-1/2″), Lacy Albright in the High Jump (4′ 10″), and Colette Bibeault in the Pole Vault (10′ 6″, tying the #2 LAHS all-time).  The Girls also won the 4×100 relay, 4×400 relay, and 1600 medley relay.

The Hilltopper Boys won over Farmington, 167 to 88.5.  Individual event winners included Melaki Gutierrez in the 100 (10.67), Alex Pasulka in the 200 (23.34), Grafton Urbatsch in the 400 (49.87, #6 LAHS all-time), Jack Ammerman in the 1600 (4:43.8), Daniel Kim in both the 100 m hurdles (15.45) and 300 m hurdles (39.07, #3 LAHS all-time), Aiden Manzanares in the Pole Vault (11′), Teke Nieto in the Shot Put (47′ 6″, a PR), and Matt Brousseau in the Discus (140′ 9″, breaking his own sophomore school record). The ‘Toppers also won the 4×100 m relay.

The Hilltoppers will host the 4A-2 District Championship at Sullivan Field this upcoming Friday afternoon.
