Los Alamos High School Senior Justin Peña Earns Knights Of Columbus, Rotary & Irene Boone Memorial Scholarships

This has been a very good week for Los Alamos High School Senior Justin Peña.

Peña heard from three very important community programs with some very good scholarship news. Knights of Columbus #3137 Scholarship Committee Chairman Joshua Sauppe notified him the he is the recipient of an academic scholarship.

He also was notified by Rotary Club of Los Alamos President Phil Dabney that he received the Rotary Club’s Great Expectations scholarship. The award for $2,000 was decided after, “a vigorous process of reviewing multiple, very qualified applicants for the Rotary scholarships”.

And last but not least, Krystal Roach of the Los Alamos Public Schools Foundation alerted Peña that he will receive the Irene Boone Memorial Scholarship.

“It felt good,” said Peña, still awaiting word on several other scholarships. Peña is a proud member of the San Ildefonso Pueblo. He also is the son of Chartwells’ Food Services Director Laurence Peña and Discover Los Alamos Director Melanie Peña of the Los Alamos Commerce and Development Corporation.

Peña hopes to attend Western Washington State University in the fall.
