LAPS News:

Congratulations to the Los Alamos High School Schola Cantorum who won the NMAA 2026 4A State Choir Championship.

The Los Alamos Choirs competed at V. Sue Cleveland in the 2025-26 State Choir Contest yesterday and brought home 1st Place with a score of 95.0, over very talented choirs from Moriarty High School and Artesia High School who finished second and third, respectively. The 30-member Schola Cantorum performed Rosas Pandan by George G. Hernandez, Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening by Eric Whitacre, and Muusika by Pärt Uusberg.

The Los Alamos Choirs, and Schola Cantorum, would like to thank their hardworking and supportive parents and booster program, thank you for chaperoning, fundraising, and listening to us practice at home. We would also like to thank the LAPS Music Team for helping develop this and future generations of musicians here in Los Alamos, as well as our High School and District Administration Teams for their continued support of the performing arts programs.

Schola Cantorum is directed by Jason Rutledge and assisted/accompanied by Louisa Singleton. You can see them live during their final concert of the year May 11 in the Duane Smith Auditorium.
