In the past Los Alamos NJROTC has held many events which in turn have afforded the program the opportunity to support our surrounding community.

Topper Company held their annual food drive for LA Cares Feb. 27 until March 10. Cadets managed to collect over 800 individual items last year with over 900 items gathered this year. These donations will be transported to LA Cares where it will be distributed to families in need throughout the community.

Along with hosting a food drive, Topper Company headed to Santa Fe High School last Saturday to compete in a military skills competition. Team awards included our female physical training (PT) team placing first for the 9th consecutive time and male PT came home with 2nd place.

Individual awards included Rebecca Moss 2nd place overall female PT, Rebecca Moss 2nd place female sprint drag carry, Andrew Johnson 2nd place standing power throw, Hayden Sutton 2nd place drill down, Rebecca Moss 3rd place drill down, Marissa Meierdierks 3rd place female sprint drag carry, Megan Crawford 3rd place female standing power throw, Owen Oviedo 4th place drill down and Ana Schmitz 5th place marksmanship sporter standing position.

To end the week, Topper Company promoted many deserving cadets. Cadets have four opportunities for rank advancement where they must pass an academic exam and a practical exam where they demonstrate required military skills.
