LAHS HILLTALKER News:

The Los Alamos High School Hilltalkers Speech and Debate team would like to invite the Los Alamos community to a Sunday Social Showcase 1-3 p.m. Sunday, May 6 at the Betty Erhart Senior Center.

The Hilltalkers are kicking off a week of fundraising events to raise money for their transportation to the National tournament and for transportation for the upcoming school year.

The Hilltalkers have an exciting afternoon of performances planned. Members of the multi talented speech and debate team will perform excerpts from their award winning speeches and dramatic pieces. There will be musical and dance performances to round off a fun filled afternoon.

Several local businesses have partnered with the Hilltalkers to offer delectable goodies for the event. Bliss Gift Shop will be on hand to serve tea; Pampered Chef consultant Jennifer Martinez will be serving delicious appetizers to go along with the tea; and Sirphey/Unquarked is donating their famous samosas. These businesses have donated their time and goods to benefit the Hilltalkers’ transportation fund.

The Hilltalkers wish to thank the local businesses for supporting the speech and debate team.

Starting Monday, May 7 and continuing until Saturday, May 12, Fleur de Lys will be donating 20 percent of its macaron sales to the Hilltalkers. Stop by Fleur de Lys to pick up some delicious macarons and support the Hilltalkers.

Additionally, Pampered Chef consultant Jennifer Martinez will donate 25 percent of her sales from the Showcase to the Hilltalkers.

For members of the community who cannot attend Sunday’s fundraiser, we welcome donations at the Hilltalkers’ fundraising website https://weare.ed.co/gc/61c80a98-55a2-41d2-ab63-ee4108538a6d

Tickets for the event are $8 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Tickets are available at the door.
