Looking for that ideal gift?  While everyone loves giving and receiving gifts at the holidays, selecting the perfect gift can be challenging especially when so many on your list have so much. So what about giving a gift that gives back? Whether you are looking for a beautiful piece of jewelry, a unique handbag, a project to keep the kids busy, or something clever and kitschy, the LAMC Lobby Shop has the perfect gift for everyone.

The Lobby Shop is operated by volunteers who are members of the Los Alamos Medical Center Auxiliary. All proceeds from sales in the gift shop are returned to the community through Community Health and Education Committee projects.  Over one million dollars have been contributed to those in need since the Auxiliary was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in the 1950’s. The benefactors of the funds are varied. Nurses who are employed by LAMC and wish to further their education may apply for assistance in obtaining books and paying for tuition.  Educational literature, supplies, and equipment for our hospital’s nurses, as well as patients, are frequently purchased by the Auxiliary. Community-at-large residents, including those who live in Northern Santa Fe County, Los Alamos County, and Rio Arriba County, may apply for assistance to pay for medical bills and prescriptions via the MedAssist program. Applicants must meet low income requirements and may receive up to $1,000 in assistance per lifetime.

As an added bonus, over the next several weeks, every time you make purchase made at the Lobby Shop, you will also receive a free wall calendar, filled with healthy lifestyle tips for 2016.

The Lobby Shop has been a part of the community for over sixty years, but it still remains a hidden treasure–the aisles are filled with intriguing, high quality, and affordable gifts.  Every shelf holds a treasure that is perfect for someone. By shopping at the Lobby Shop your gift will not only delight the recipient, it will also give back to someone in need.  Can you think of a better way to give?

The Lobby Shop has special holiday hours 9 a.m.to 6 p.m. Monday-Friday. 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturdays and Christmas Eve.  For more information, or if you are interested in volunteering, call 505.662.2555.
