HEART COUNCIL News:

The Los Alamos Heart Council is pleased to announce its Heart Month Seminar for 2015.

This year’s seminar, “The Hidden Dangers of Your Health Supplement: How Common Supplements affect you and your Heart” will be presented by Clinical Pharmacologist at Presbyterian Healthcare Services Dr. Jenny Mills, PharmD, PhC.

The seminar is 5:30 p.m., Feb. 26 at the First Baptist Church of Los Alamos, 2200 Diamond Dr. Complementary dinner will be served.

Dr. Mills holds doctorate in pharmacology and is a pharmaceutical chemist. She will be exploring how the active ingredients in common health supplements people buy every day at health food stores, their local pharmacy and from online retailers work in your body and what effect they may have on your prescription drugs.

When your doctor asks you to list all the drugs you take, do you even write down the everyday supplements? If you are not sure what you are taking is affecting you, this is the seminar for you. Professional literature and information will be available at the seminar.

Nurses and allied health professionals can receive 1.5 hours Continuing Education Credits. Credits are provided through Los Alamos Medical Center, a provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider No. 15835.

Although the seminar is free, registration is required. If a participant wishes to have the complementary dinner, register by Feb. 23. To register, call 505.662.2656 or online at http://www.losalamosheartcouncil.org/
