LAGS News:

The Los Alamos Geological Society (LAGS) will meet 7-8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25 at the Los Alamos Christian Church, 92 East Road.

The guest speaker, Ray DeMark, will speak on “New Mexico Fluorite Locations – Found and Lost”. He gave a shorter version of this talk at last year’s New Mexico Mineral Symposium. New Mexico is blessed with a large number of localities for fluorite, with occurrences in 20 of the 33 counties and more than 600 sites listed in Mindat. While there are several well-known sites, many of these are at small mines difficult to impossible to access due to land ownership or the underground workings being blocked off. DeMark will show pictures of specimens from many long-gone locations, as well as current producers.

All in the community are invited to attend this talk. Light refreshments will be served.
