Los Alamos Geological Society to Feature Kirt Kempter

The next meeting of the Los Alamos Geological Society will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20 at the Christian Church, 92 East Road, Los Alamos.

The featured speaker is Kirt Kempter, a field geologist, photographer and teacher based in Santa Fe. 

A Fulbright Fellow, Kempter has led many geologic expeditions to Bryce, Zion and Grand Canyon National Parks, and has published numerous maps and articles on the geology of the American Southwest.

He received his Ph.D. in geology from the University of Texas.


The Society is hosting the Earth Treasure Show Dec. 8 and 9 to be held at the Masonic Temple from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

This is a great place to learn about the Earth and pick up beautiful gem, mineral and fossil specimens. Admission is free to this popular event.
