The Los Alamos Garden Club (LAGC) is pleased to present its 2021 scholarship award of $1,500 to graduating senior Isabella Martinez Pruet.
Isabella is a dedicated community service volunteer. She is a member and also current president of the Key Club. She participated in the African Library Project, the Self Help Gala, the recycled art show, the drive through flu clinic and the homeless shelter supply drive. She has been a volunteer at the Española Animal Shelter and currently works at the North Mesa Stables as a stable hand.
She plans to attend the University of North Texas to pursue a degree in biochemistry. After college she wants to enlist in the Peace Corps in order to help communities better understand environmental issues and protect their local environments.
The Garden Club congratulates Isabella and wishes her well in her future endeavors.
Los Alamos Garden Club 2021 Science Fair Award Winners:
The Los Alamos Garden Club presented three $25-$30 awards following the Los Alamos Public Schools 2021 virtual Science and Technology Fair:
Anna Saenz, Chamisa School, grade 5 won an award for her project “Birds of New Mexico”.
Maya Somasekharanm, Mountain School, grade 5, won an award for her project on “Moldy Foods”.
Anna Kerstiens, Barranca School, grade 5, won an award for her project “What Liquids Grow Mold Faster.”
The Garden Club congratulates these young people on their hard work and success.
