LAFD News:

At approximately 3 a.m., today, Los Alamos fire and police were dispatched to the 3500 block of Ridgeway for a reported house fire.

First responders arrived on scene to find a fully engulfed vacant home at that address. Witnesses on scene confirmed the house was vacant and an aggressive fire attack by firefighters commenced.

Fire Capt. Mike Gill from Fire Station 4 (North Community Fire Station) and his crew from Engine 4 and Medic 4 were the first units on scene and achieved a quick knock down of the fire. The residence closest to the fire structure was evacuated and crews successfully protected their home. Fire companies from Stations 1 and 6 were also on scene and assisted with the extinguishment.

The incident commander, Battalion Chief Steven Dawald, coordinated the attack with all arriving units and called the situation under control within 30 minutes of the arrival of the first in units. The fire is under investigation.

The community is encouraged to stay away from the area as the investigation continues. There were no reported injuries.
