Dear Friends:
Happy new year! This marks 28 years of providing eye care to the incredible community of Los Alamos. I am so grateful for the support!
I am thrilled to announce that we have the newest software upgrade in digital photography: Icare Eidon, the first TrueColor Confocal imaging device for ultra-high resolution widefield imaging. What this means for you: whether or not you are able to have your eyes dilated, you will receive the highest level of care for a low, additional fee of $29. Your eyes and your vision are well worth it.
We also upgraded our device that measures your macular pigment (MPOD), which is essential for good central vision, night driving, visual reaction time, color vision, and seeing details. MPOD is a biomarker for several eye health issues, including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, glare and light sensitivity problems, potential blue light damage, and cognitive issues. If your score is less than optimal (<.5), we strongly recommend getting more leafy greens into your diet (spinach, kale), and lutein/zeaxanthin nutritional supplementation.
As an avid member of our local YMCA, I continue to enjoy the many benefits of exercise, including stress management, better sleep, and improved health. I actively promote exercise because eye health and vision are closely linked to physical health.
A big change in 2025: we are no longer “in-network” for Medicare and Vision Service Plan (VSP). It was a difficult business decision, but necessary to reduce administrative burdens and the costs of billing insurance. We are “in-network” for Davis Vision and Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico. We aim to focus on outstanding patient care and customer service.
I am thrilled to announce that Los Alamos Family Eyecare will sponsor “The Chosen” at SALA Event Center. This incredibly moving, historical drama series will be free to the public and scheduled once a month. I am proud to support SALA, as well as advertise for my business. My sponsorship includes a business video that will play during the movie previews: check it out here!
My staff and I wish you and your families abundance, happiness, and joy in 2025!
Sincerely,
Lisa Shin, O.D.
