Los Alamos Family Council CountUP! Week 14

By JORDAN REDMOND
Executive Director
Los Alamos Family Council

For the past six decades, Los Alamos Family Council has provided a variety of services to the members of this community. The current programs include the Counseling Center, the two Youth Activity Centers, SMART Recovery groups, DWI School, and others. But looking through the history of Los Alamos Family Council shows a broad involvement in many more areas.

Among the programs Los Alamos Family Council has provided previously is the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). This program was started in 1973 with a federal grant.

The program continues today, without federal funding, as part of the Los Alamos Retired & Senior Organization’s (LARSO) Los Alamos Volunteer Association (LAVA).

Today, LARSO operates previous programs of LAFC, including the senior centers and the Day Out program. For more information on senior services such as RSVP/LAVA, contact LARSO at 505.662.8923.

Los Alamos Family Council continues to serve the community of Los Alamos and the surrounding areas through our current programming, with a focus on our mission of promoting social and emotional well-being through education, prevention, and counseling. For more information about LAFC’s programs, please call 505.662.4160, visit our website at www.lafamilycouncil.org.
