Los Alamos Democratic Party Opens 2012 Headquarters

UPDATE: The Democratic Headquarters will open to the public with regular hours begining Saturday, Aug. 25.

The Los Alamos County Democratic Party inked a deal this afternoon to lease a space in Central Park Square for its 2012 campaign headquarters.

“We are very excited to have a central location where we can conduct the party’s business,” Chair Michael Wheeler said.

The 2,700-square-foot space at 140 Central Park Square is comprised of a large open area, 5 individual offices, a large conference room, a kitchen and restrooms.

Campaign workers for President Barack Obama, U.S. Senatorial candidate Martin Heinrich, Rep. Ben Ray Lujan, District 43 State Representative candidate Stephanie Garcia Richard and Los Alamos County Council candidates Kristin Henderson and Pete Sheehey as well as County Clerk candidate Nathan Hjelm will all be working at various times in the new headquarters, Wheeler said.

“We will be moving in and getting settled over the weekend,” Wheeler said. “We will officially be open Monday and welcome the public to stop by then to meet the people working hard to get these candidates elected to office Nov. 6.”
