Los Alamos Creative District: Tuesdays At The Pond Entertainment Series Kicks Off With Some Jazz May 14

The Los Alamos Creative District is kicking off their Tuesdays at the Pond Entertainment Series with the Los Alamos Middle School Jazz Band!
 
The Los Alamos Middle School Jazz Band 1 will take the stage at 7 p.m. followed by the Los Alamos Jazz Project.
 
Tuesdays at the Pond Entertainment Series is every Tuesday, 7 p.m. at Ashley Pond Park stage through Aug. 6.
 
Tuesdays @ the Pond 2019 Line up will include:
 
May 14 Los Alamos Middle School Jazz Band 1 & Los Alamos Jazz Project Big Band Two student big bands will be featured during this event: the Los Alamos Middle School Jazz Band 1 and the Los Alamos Jazz Project Big Band.
 
June 4 Philippe Holmes
 
Philippe Holmes, classical guitarist. Born in Stuttgart, Germany, Philippe Holmes grew up in Washington D.C. and attended Georgetown and George Washington Universities.
 
He has composed, performed and produced music ranging from classical to hip-hop since the age of sixteen. In 2004 he moved to the small village of Monticello, New Mexico and immersed himself in the repertoire of Andrès Segovia. Most recently, he spent seven years in his mother’s native country of France, where he collaborated on projects including Romanian music and contemporary pop/rock.
 
June 11 Pride Week- Hella Bella
 
Hella Bella is New Mexico’s favorite drag rock cover band, riveting audiences since 2016 with performances that go from dance party to comedy to dramatic performance art and back again. Known for their unique arrangements and skilled musicianship, Hella Bella pleases dancers, music lovers, and music critics alike.
 
Hella Bella stars drag queen, Bella Gigante, featuring Joe Buffaloe on lead guitar, Sarah Meadows on bass, and Linda Strauss on cello and rhythm guitar, with Clark Libby on drums.

June 18 Los Alamos Community Winds
 
Los Alamos Community Winds is a wind ensemble made up of members of the Los Alamos, NM community. It is comprised of both amateur and professional musicians of all ages and backgrounds from middle and high school students to retirees in the area.
 
June 25 Craig Martin Experience
 
Craig Martin Experience is an informal group of musicians who have been playing jazz together since December 2010. The group emphasizes a relaxed atmosphere where all members can develop their skills. Their focus is on traditional swing, hard bop, and soul jazz with a touch of funk. The line-up is a bit untraditional, but each member of the septet shares a deep-rooted love of the small-group jazz setting. Their sets feature standards and other tunes by Billy Strayhorn, Horace Silver, Herbie Hancock, and Eddie Harris.
 
July 9 ScienceFest Kick Off Party featuring the Los Alamos Hill Stompers

July 16 Ouroborus
 
Ouroborus started in 2018 in Española, New Mexico to play for The Topper Revue.
 
Ouroborus is known for their dual guitar work and high-energy performances including getting the crowd involved with the show. The four members are Anthony Lucero, Evan Carter, Jeremy Duran and Haley Pippen.
 
July 23 Paradox
 
Paradox is a jazz quintet playing in Northern New Mexico. They range from swing standards to contemporary jazz, with sax, guitar, keys, bass and drums.
 
Come support our local musicians: Jim Gattiker, tenor sax, Carl Greeff, guitar, Jim Ziomek, piano, David Rogers, bass and Mike Harris, drums.
 
July 30 DK & The Affordables
 
Green Chile fueled Southwestern Vintage Rock n Roll!
 
DK & The Affordables kick out a jiving, jumping variety of roots music that is intended to get you moving and inspire goodwill amongst the sexes. Gyrating, swinging bodies topped by smiling faces have accompanied many an Affordables show. Couple all of that with twangy guitar, a ripping rhythm section, greasy hair, and some pointy boots and you’ve got yourself a hootenanny of a good time!
