Los Alamos County’s New Website Launches Today

Los Alamos County announced today that it has launched a new website, hosted by a third-party “cloud based” provider Civic Live. It is the first time in eight years that the County has substantially re-designed its website. The web address remains the same: www.losalamosnm.us; however, residents with bookmarked pages will need to visit the new site and set new bookmarks as a result of the change.

The launch of the new site is the culmination of planning and research that began in 2016. After a competitive procurement process, a County project team selected Civic Live and worked with their designers on the architecture of the new site, incorporating findings and statistics on top website usage from Google Analytics and considering public feedback and suggestions from staff in the various departments. The goal of the team was to make the new site more user-friendly, offering better two-way communication with customers through the use of forms and work flows, as well as finding ways to improve efficiencies in overall site administration to save staff time.

The new site offers:

  • Better navigation tools
  • Redesigned sub-sites for departments or services
  • Improved search engine capabilities
  • Easy access through home page “quick links” for the most popular links
  • Enhanced photo and video hosting capability
  • An integrated calendar of events with filter options
  • Responsive design for viewing on smart phones and tablets

As part of the launch, new software for more easily accessing Boards and Commissions information was also implemented today. It allows users better 24/7 access – such as applying or re-applying for a board opening, viewing a list of vacancies, or having better access in reviewing the duties of a board, its current work plan, or its current member roster. The new Boards and Commissions software is hosted by third-party Granicus and compliments the current agenda and minutes storage abilities for public accessibility, as well as facilitating the streaming and video-on-demand viewing of all Council and most Boards and Commissions meetings.
