The Los Alamos County Recreation Department is again preparing for the 42ndAnnual Triathlon set for Saturday, July 30.

This year’s format will be different than previous races with the addition of a separate Junior Triathlon starting 30 minutes before the regular Triathlon begins. The traditional Kids’ Triathlon  also happens at 11 a.m., Saturday after the award ceremony for the first two races is complete.

These amazing events rely heavily on the generous support of community volunteers to guide and support racers along the course. Anyone interested in participating as a helper for these races should stop by the Walkup Aquatic Center and fill out a volunteer form (available at the front desk), or email Wendy Lott at wendy.lott@lacnm.us for a copy of the form.

The work hours are 6-10:30 a.m. for the Adult and Junior Triathlons, and the Kids Triathlon race begins around 11 a.m. and should wrap up within an hour.

Early morning volunteers will be treated to bagels and juice before heading out on the course. Volunteers also are welcome to grab some lunch with the racers at the end of the Junior/Adult triathlons, before the start of the Kids Triathlon.

Everyone is invited to come join in on the fun!
