Los Alamos County Staff Assignment & Recruitment Updates

Los Alamos County has announced the following staff assignments and recruitments:

Julie Williams-Hill from the Department of Public Utilities is the new Public Information Officer for Los Alamos County. She begins her new position today, Nov. 14.

Danielle Duran is the new Intergovernmental Affairs Manager. Duran has a bachelor’s degree in Public Policy Economics from Trinity University and an MBA from the University of New Mexico. Her diverse work experience includes a term on the Española City Council and work at PNM Resources, State of New Mexico’s Office of International Trade and Yaskawa Electric Corporation (in Japan). In this new position, Duran will be the point person for relationships and programs with the County’s intergovernmental partners including LANL, Department of Energy/NNSA, National Park Service, and regional counties, municipalities, and pueblos. Duran begins her new position Monday, Dec. 13.

Newly appointed Deputy County Manager Anne Laurent will supervise the County’s Community Services Department Director, Public Information Officer, and when hired, the new Broadband Manager.

Newly appointed Deputy County Manager Linda Matteson will supervise the Public Works Director, Intergovernmental Affairs Manager, and the Executive Assistant to the County Manager.

Laurent and Matteson also are taking the lead on additional special initiatives such as liaising with DOE’s Environmental Management Los Alamos Field Office (Laurent); creating and leading an internal County COVID-19 Committee (Matteson); supporting Council and Boards/Commissions/Task Forces (Matteson); serving on DOE’s Northern New Mexico Citizen Advisory Board (Laurent); continuing efforts to improve organizational excellence and working to address needs and concerns identified in the Community and Staff surveys (Laurent and Matteson).

The Los Alamos County Police Chief, Fire Chief, Community Development Director, Acting Administrative Services Director, Human Resources Manager and both Deputy County Managers will continue to report directly to County Manager Steve Lynne.

Los Alamos County Social Services Manager Donna Casados has resigned and her last day is Dec 10, after which Community Services Department Senior Management Analyst Katherine Hudspeth will serve as Acting Social Services Manager.
