Los Alamos County Residents Select Tagline ‘Give A Shift’ For Climate Action Outreach Campaign

Los Alamos County residents have selected the official tagline “Give a Shift” for the County’s upcoming climate action outreach campaign. With this tagline, the campaign will explore how shifting the choices you make can protect the environment, improve your family’s health, reduce costs, and continue a strong sense of community.

There were 208 survey submissions from residents across the county, with “Give a Shift” receiving 39 percent of the votes across the three options. The campaign, led by behavior-change-communications firm Firebrand Creative, will feature a visual style inspired by connection and nature, influenced by atomic and molecular structures—the top choice among respondents at 38 percent. This approach connects Los Alamos’ scientific heritage with environmental action, reinforcing the idea that individual actions contribute to broader community impact.
“Los Alamos County thanks all residents who voted. The campaign is part of a seven-year program supporting the County’s Climate Action Plan,” County Sustainability Manager Angelica Gurule said. “To celebrate the launch, you can pick up a climate action bingo card at PEEC’s Earth Day Festival or download it from the County’s Climate Action Bingo event page. Play for a chance to win a prize.”
The Earth Day Festival runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 18 at the Los Alamos Nature Center.
Survey results also revealed the climate actions residents feel most ready to make in the coming year, with reducing single-use plastics (53 percent), buying locally grown food (47 percent), reducing food waste (45 percent), and walking or biking for local trips (43 percent) topping the list.
