COUNTY News:
Los Alamos County fire and public works departments are inviting residents to attend the first of three public meetings to discuss the site selection process for replacing Fire Station 4. This in-person meeting is 5:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23 at Fire Station 4 at 4401 Diamond Drive.
At the meeting, the County project team will explain the details of the Fire Station 4 replacement project, provide an overview of the criteria for site selection, and discuss the three sites owned by the County that are under consideration.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the project team will encourage residents to provide feedback over a period of two weeks before the next public meeting on Oct. 15. The received input will assist the Los Alamos County Council to finalize a site in November.
Three County-owned parcels proposed for the new fire station:
- Site A – Current Fire Station 4, 4401 Diamond Drive;
- Site B – Golf Course Maintenance Yard, entry at 9999 San Ildefonso Road; and
- Site C – Vacant area north of the Loma Linda playground, 101 North Mesa Road.
LiDAR scans and drone footage of each site are included on the County’s project web page “Fire Station 4 Replacement: Site Selection” at https://losalamosnm.us/FS4-SiteSelection.
Residents unable to attend can view the recorded meeting, which will be available on the project web page within a couple of days. Instructions on providing feedback will also be included on the web page after the meeting.
Project Manager Sobia Sayeda indicates that residents who would like to stay updated on the project and be notified of future meetings and feedback opportunities can email her at lacpw@lacnm.us with the subject line “Fire Station 4 Updates” or call 505.662.8015.
