Los Alamos County Community Development Advisory Board Conducts Outreach At Summer Concert Series

COUNTY News:

The Los Alamos Community Development Advisory Board (CDAB) is sponsoring information booths at the Secret City Summer Concert Series and the Los Alamos Farmers Market as part of its outreach efforts.

“The CDAB hopes to gather public input from a broad cross-section of the community to support its efforts to improve the County’s nuisance ordinance and code enforcement activities,” CDAB Chair Catherine Ozment said.

The schedule for CDAB outreach booths at the Summer Concerts is June 7, July 19 and Aug. 9. The schedule for booths at the Farmers Market is June 6, July 18, Aug. 22, Sept. 26 and Oct. 10.

The CDAB was established in May 2018 by the County Council. The seven-member board, appointed by the Council has been meeting since August 2018.

Since its inception, the CDAB has been gathering information about code enforcement processes and reviewing code enforcement activities. The CDAB has been methodically reviewing each section of the County’s nuisance ordinance (Chapter 18, Environment). Most recently, the CDAB has been comparing the sections of the County’s ordinance with those in other municipalities in New Mexico and in neighboring states.

With this foundation, the CDAB is now actively seeking community input so that it can make informed recommendations to the County Council. Other planned outreach activities include an Open Forum online survey and a community open house.

The CDAB meets at 5:30 p.m. on the third Monday of each month in the Municipal Building, Room 110. The board can be reached by email at cdab.cdd@lacnm.us.
